Air Fryer Bang Bang Shrimp: Small Batch, No Leftovers

  • Author: Lina
  • Total Time: 15 minutes
  • Yield: 1-2 servings 1x

Description

A quick, small-batch air fryer recipe for crispy Bang Bang Shrimp that serves 1-2 people, eliminating waste and reducing cleanup time while delivering restaurant-quality flavor.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 68 large shrimp (peeled, deveined, thawed if frozen, and patted very dry)
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour (or gluten-free blend)
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon Old Bay seasoning (optional)
  • Vegetable oil spray
  • 1/4 cup full-fat mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons Bang Bang Sauce (or substitute: 1 tbsp sriracha + 1 tbsp sweet chili sauce)
  • 12 teaspoons sriracha
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon sugar

Instructions

  1. Pat the shrimp completely dry with paper towels to ensure crispiness.
  2. In a small bowl, toss the shrimp with flour, cornstarch, garlic powder, onion powder, and Old Bay seasoning until lightly coated.
  3. Preheat the air fryer to 400°F (200°C) for 3 minutes.
  4. While the air fryer preheats, whisk together mayonnaise, Bang Bang Sauce, sriracha, lemon juice, and sugar in a small bowl. Taste and adjust seasoning if needed.
  5. Arrange the coated shrimp in a single layer in the air fryer basket, ensuring they do not overlap.
  6. Spray the shrimp lightly with oil spray on both sides.
  7. Air fry at 400°F (200°C) for 6-8 minutes, flipping halfway through, until shrimp are pink, opaque, and crispy.
  8. Transfer hot shrimp to a bowl and toss gently with the prepared sauce.
  9. Serve immediately, garnished with chopped scallions or a lemon wedge if desired.

Notes

Ensure shrimp are completely dry before coating to prevent soggy results. Do not overcrowd the air fryer basket. The sauce can be made ahead and stored in the fridge for up to 3 days. Reheat leftovers in the air fryer at 350°F for 3-4 minutes to restore crispiness.
