Easy Sticky Honey Garlic Chicken Wings: 3-Ingredient Budget Recipe

  • Author: Lina
  • Total Time: 55 minutes
  • Yield: 6 servings 1x

Description

A budget-friendly, sticky honey garlic chicken wing recipe that uses simple pantry ingredients. Perfect for tailgating, game days, or busy weeknights, these wings are crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 34 pounds chicken wings (party cut)
  • 1 tablespoon neutral oil (canola, vegetable, or light olive oil)
  • Pinch of salt
  • ½ cup honey
  • ½ cup soy sauce (or low-sodium/tamari)
  • 68 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated
  • ½ teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • Sesame seeds and chopped green onions for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper or foil. If using a wire rack, place it on the sheet.
  2. Pat chicken wings dry with paper towels to ensure crispiness. Toss wings with neutral oil and a pinch of salt.
  3. Spread wings in a single layer on the baking sheet, ensuring they are not touching. Bake for 20 minutes.
  4. Flip the wings and bake for another 20-25 minutes until golden brown, crispy, and internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C). Set aside.
  5. While wings bake, combine honey, soy sauce, minced garlic, grated ginger, rice vinegar, and red pepper flakes in a small saucepan over medium heat.
  6. Bring sauce to a simmer, then reduce heat to low. Simmer for 3-5 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly and coats the back of a spoon.
  7. Place baked wings in a large mixing bowl. Pour the warm glaze over the hot wings and toss vigorously to coat evenly.
  8. Garnish with sesame seeds and green onions if desired. Serve immediately.

Notes

Patting the wings dry is crucial for crispiness. Do not crowd the pan; give wings space to air circulate. Simmer the sauce until it coats the spoon to ensure it sticks properly. Reheat leftovers in the oven at 350°F to maintain crispiness; avoid microwaving.
