Description
A stress-free, no-bake summer dessert that layers ladyfingers, fresh strawberries, and a tangy cream cheese filling. It looks impressive, feeds a crowd, and can be made ahead for easy entertaining.
Ingredients
Scale
- 32 oz (900g) full-fat cream cheese, softened
- 2 cups (480ml) heavy cream, cold
- 2 pounds (900g) fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced
- 1 package (7 oz) ladyfingers
- ½ cup (100g) granulated sugar
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- ½ cup (120g) strawberry jam
- ¼ cup (60ml) milk
- Crushed pistachios (optional, for garnish)
Instructions
- Wash and hull strawberries. Slice half for the filling layers and leave the other half whole for decoration. Pat juicy berries dry with paper towels.
- In a small bowl, mix strawberry jam with milk until smooth to create a thin syrup. Set aside.
- In a large, cold bowl, whip heavy cream until stiff peaks form. Set aside in the fridge.
- In another large bowl, beat softened cream cheese, sugar, and vanilla extract until completely smooth and creamy.
- Gently fold the whipped cream into the cream cheese mixture using a spatula until light and fluffy. Avoid overmixing.
- Assemble the trifle: Place a layer of ladyfingers at the bottom of a large glass bowl and brush generously with strawberry syrup. Add a layer of sliced strawberries, then a thick layer of cheesecake filling. Repeat for three layers.
- Top with a final layer of cheesecake filling. Arrange whole strawberries cut-side down on top and sprinkle with crushed pistachios if using.
- Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, ideally 2-4 hours, to allow flavors to meld and structure to set.
Notes
Keep all ingredients cold, especially the cream, to ensure proper whipping. Do not soak ladyfingers too much or they will turn to mush. Use room temperature cream cheese to avoid lumps. This dessert is best made ahead and stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Do not freeze.
