  • Yield: 6 servings 1x

Description

These Game Day Spicy Honey Garlic Wings are a sticky, savory, and spicy crowd-pleaser that is budget-friendly and easy to make. Baked to crispy perfection and tossed in a homemade sauce, they are perfect for feeding a family or a crowd without spending hours in the kitchen.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 pounds chicken wings (whole pack, separated into flats and drumettes)
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil or cornstarch
  • ½ cup honey
  • ¼ cup soy sauce
  • 6 cloves garlic, minced
  • 23 tablespoons hot sauce
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons butter (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds
  • 2 stalks green onions, sliced

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper or foil.
  2. Pat chicken wings very dry with paper towels to ensure crispiness.
  3. Place dried wings in a large bowl and sprinkle with baking powder and salt. Toss until lightly coated.
  4. Arrange wings in a single layer on wire racks or baking sheets, ensuring they are not touching.
  5. Bake for 20 minutes, then flip wings and bake for another 20-25 minutes until golden brown and crispy.
  6. While wings bake, combine honey, soy sauce, minced garlic, hot sauce, and rice vinegar in a small saucepan over medium heat.
  7. Simmer sauce for 3-4 minutes until it thickens slightly, then remove from heat and stir in butter until melted.
  8. Transfer hot wings to a large mixing bowl and pour warm sauce over them. Toss gently to coat evenly.
  9. Serve immediately, garnished with sesame seeds and sliced green onions.

Notes

For extra crispy wings, pat them dry thoroughly and let them sit uncovered in the fridge for an hour before baking. Ensure wings are not crowded on the pan to allow air circulation. If the sauce is too thin, simmer longer; if too thick, add a teaspoon of water or vinegar. Reheat leftovers in the oven at 400°F for 10 minutes to restore crispiness.
