Description
Crispy oven-baked chicken wings tossed in a sweet, spicy, and savory honey Sriracha glaze. This easy 30-minute appetizer delivers restaurant-quality crunch without deep frying.
Ingredients
Scale
- 3 pounds chicken wings (drumettes and flats)
- 1 tablespoon baking powder (aluminum-free)
- 1 teaspoon kosher salt
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- ½ cup Sriracha sauce
- ½ cup honey
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce (low-sodium recommended)
- 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated
- 1 teaspoon toasted sesame oil
- 1 teaspoon cornstarch mixed with 1 teaspoon water (optional, for thickening)
- 1 tablespoon sesame seeds (optional, for garnish)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper or foil.
- Pat chicken wings completely dry with paper towels to ensure crispiness.
- Place wings in a large bowl and sprinkle with baking powder, salt, and pepper. Toss until evenly coated.
- Arrange wings in a single layer on the baking sheets, ensuring they are not touching. Use a wire rack if available for better air circulation.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden brown and crispy. Optionally broil for the last 2 minutes for extra crispness.
- While wings bake, combine Sriracha, honey, soy sauce, rice vinegar, garlic, ginger, and sesame oil in a small saucepan over medium heat.
- Simmer the sauce for 2-3 minutes until it thickens slightly and coats the back of a spoon. Add cornstarch slurry if needed to thicken.
- Remove wings from the oven and immediately toss them in the sauce in a large mixing bowl until fully coated.
- Serve immediately on a platter, garnished with sesame seeds and green onions if desired.
Notes
Ensure wings are completely dry before baking to achieve maximum crispiness. Do not overcrowd the pan; cook in batches if necessary. The sauce can be made ahead and frozen for up to 3 months. For a gluten-free version, substitute soy sauce with tamari.
